Alright so it has been a while since I last posted anything... I will give you all a brief synopsis of the past month... or two, whatever!
Dalton came out for the summer - HOORAY!!!! It was so good to see him again. I miss him so much when he is not here. It is like missing my heart or a large portion of it. He stepped off the plane and one of the first things he said to me is that he wanted his hair cut. Which of course was music to my ears. At first I thought it was just his way of gaining my acceptance (sorry for the psychobabble), but when asked he told me that he was at the mall with his Nanny and a lady came up to them and asked if "you girls need any help"... So after a 3 hour trip home we got out the clippers and buzzed his head at 11:00 at night.
The next day we took off for the National Columbia Sheep show and stock sale - an Uphoff family tradition. We met almost all of Mary's family in Douglas and spent a few days wrestling sheep and sweating. Then Paul, Sarah and Leah came up on their way home for about a week. As this was Dalton and my first time to said event, we did not know what to expect. Dalton jumped right in helping out with the sheep... that is when he wasn't chasing girls all over the fairgrounds. I on the other hand spent most of the time wrestling babies. It turns out there is entirely too much crap (literally and figuratively) for the babies to pick up and try and eat at a fairgrounds. So they spent most of their time strapped into the stroller.
My Dad & Jean came out to see our kooky brood for a few days. Dalton had camp that week, but he got to spend some quality time with the smaller of the McCorkles. Grace already has him wrapped around her finger... not that I am one to talk. It was great to see them again. Our visits are all too seldom and short.
So here we are almost to the end of summer. Dalton was scheduled to head back to his mom's house on the 25th of August. Then out of the blue he tells me that he wants to move here with us and start school this fall... So you can imagine my excitement! He called his mom and gave an argument as to why he should live with us that was reminiscent of his eloquent best man's speech at our wedding. It brought Mary and I to tears!
So currently we are "negotiating" his relocation. His mom will be coming to Buffalo to talk and check things out before giving her final blessing. He is so excited! As are we naturally.
Anyhow, that is the big excitement here. I will keep you posted on the outcome.
